GARNETT — A coalition formed by the Garnett-based Kansas Corn Commission and several other corn-related groups has received the Herb Plambeck Award for Creative Excellence from the National Association of Farm Broadcasting. The Corn Farmers Coalition received the award last week in Kansas City. The coalition used a series of radio commercials aired in 12 states from Maryland to Colorado to make the point that family farmers are growing more with less thanks to technology and innovation, said Kansas Corn Commission communications director Sue Schulte. The commercials sounded like a call-in radio show with the host answering questions about corn and farming, she said.
