WICHITA — Wichita State officials are investigating an event held on campus Saturday night that resulted in shots being fired in the parking lot outside the Rhatigan Student Center. There are no known injuries. Campus officials said about 350 people attended the event and no alcohol was served. The scholarship fundraiser dance was held by Wichita State students for high school students. However, fighting broke out inside the building spilled out into the parking lot, the officials said. Two to six shots were in the parking lot during the fracas. Wichita State has asked Wichita police to investigate shots fired by a Wichita State police officer during the fight. That officer is on paid leave during the investigation.
