RANTOUL – Harry Peckham, of the Memory Lane Christmas Tree Farm of Rantoul took 25 Christmas trees from his farm and that of the Strawberry Hill Tree Farm, Lawrence; early this morning to Wichita as part of the state’s effort for the national Trees for Troops. Nearly 17,000 free Christmas trees will be given to military families who can’t otherwise afford them this year, he said. The tree farmers have a Facebook page about the program at Trees For Troops Bears.
