OSAGE CITY — An Osage County woman was shot and stabbed at her rural home Monday night and the man identified as her attacker was killed in a crash following a police pursuit. Sheriff Laurie Dunn said the woman drove herself to the Osage County Sheriff’s Department and reported the attack. An ambulance took the woman to an area hospital where she was listed in serious condition, Dunn said. Later, an Osage County deputy spotted a minivan matching a description given by the woman. Dunn said when the deputy tried to pull over the minivan, the driver fled. The Topeka-Capital Journal reported the chase went at speeds of more than 90 miles an hour but ended in Shawnee County when the driver crashed into a bridge on U.S. 75 south of Topeka. The van caught fire. The man was killed, the newspaper reported. The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, Dunn said. More information wasn’t immediately available.
