OTTAWA — The Ottawa City Commission extended city manager Richard Nienstedt’s contract for another year Wednesday night. However, city attorney Bob Bezek, who handled negotiations for the commission, said that at Nienstedt’s request, the contract doesn’t include a pay raise. Because of the economy and because no city employee will get a pay raise, Nienstedt asked that any pay raise for him be taken off the table in the negotiations, Bezek said. The major changes in the contract extension includes additional vacation time, and clarifies when the city would pay Nienstedt severance pay, he said.
