TOPEKA–The October 2010 Kansas Department of Labor Report was released last week. Last month, the state of Kansas increased its job rate with 6,600 jobs, a .5% increase from October 2009. Even though there was an increase in employment, it hasn’t changed much in the surrounding counties. In Franklin County, the unemployment rate stayed the same from last year at 7.3%. Miami County increased its unemployment rate from 6.4 to 6.7%. Linn County’s unemployment rate stayed the same at 8%. Anderson County increased its unemployment from 6.7 to 7%. Osage County also increased its unemployment from 6.6 to 7% and Douglas County increased its unemployment from 4.7 to 5.5%.
