FREDONIA — A Wilson County court hearing has been delayed again for an Ottawa man involved in a three-day manhunt near Garnett. Wilson County Attorney Jill Chard told the Anderson County Review that there have been several delays in the case of Charles Christopher “Chris” Taylor. She said she has requested a criminal history report on Taylor, which prompted the most recent delay. Taylor, 39, faces charges that he had sex near Fredonia with a 15-year-old Ottawa girl whom he picked up at Ottawa High School Sept. 18. Officials said he met the girl on the Internet social network site Facebook. Taylor was an employee of Allegiance Communications of Ottawa and was driving a company truck from Fredonia which was remotely disabled by the company at the request of law enforcement officials. Taylor fled the vehicle north of Greeley, setting off the manhunt, which included Ottawa, Franklin County, Anderson County and other officers. He was later captured at an Allegiance antenna relay station northwest of Garnett three days later. Taylor’s preliminary hearing has been rescheduled to Dec. 17.
