OTTAWA — You may soon be hearing from Ottawa-Franklin County Economic Development. The group will soon start a public survey as it starts re-writing its strategic plan for the county, said Tom Weigand, O/FCED president. The rewrite is starting earlier than before, he said. O/FCED decided to start earlier to be sure that it gets more public input on issues facing the county, he said. Past surveys have resulted in improvements to county fire protection and ambulance services. Water quality and availability have also been at the top of Franklin Countians’ lists and work continues on that priority, he said. Other likely issues that could come up this time may include work-force issues and working with schools to ensure that graduates help meet local businesses and industries’ needs, he said. The strategic plan is required if the county wishes to continue qualifying for state business and economic incentives, Weigand said. The plan will be turned over to the state in February.
