PLUM ISLAND, N.Y. — Once again, the General Services Administration has postponed an environmental impact study regarding the sale of the Plum Island animal disease lab. The Associated Press reports that the GSA must complete the report on Plum Island before the lab off New York’s Long Island is closed and disposed of. The federal government plans to move the lab to Kansas State University by 2018, and which is now under construction. However, another federal study has raised safety concerns about the Kansas site. The GSA told AP the report will be issued in the spring but didn’t explain the reason for the latest delay.
