OTTAWA — The Ottawa City Commission will hold a hearing Wednesday morning on the request by the First Baptist Church to demolish a dilapidated house at 418 S. Hickory. City manager Richard Nienstedt said because the house is in the state historic district, the commission must have the hearing to determine that there’s no other option for tearing it down. The process is a little more expensive and time-consuming but it’s required by state law, he said. Commissioners will also vote on a formal agreement with Lemaster Aviation to run the Ottawa Municipal Airport when they meet Wednesday. Lemaster has been running the airport for what has been a hand-shake basis for several years, and the deal formalizes it, said city manager Richard Nienstedt. Either Chuck Lemaster or his son Tony Lemaster has managed the airport for most of its existence south of the city.
