GARDNER — A fund has been set up for the family of a 13-year-old Gardner girl who was killed in last week’s fatality accident in Gardner. Hannah Apperson was one of two people who died Wednesday in the crash involving her mother’s car and a pickup. She was a seventh-grade student at Wheatridge Middle School. Her mother Lisa Apperson, sister Hailey Apperson, 10; and Cooper Apperson, 7, were injured and hospitalized. The driver of the truck, Milton Whaley, 63, Gardner; died of his injuries. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department said investigators would like to speak with any witnesses who were near U.S. 56 and New Century Parkway about the time of the accident. The sheriff’s office said investigators especially want to talk to the driver of a light-colored full-size pickup with Dale Earnhardt stickers. Donations can be sent to the family in care of Gardner National Bank, 840 E. Main St., Gardner.
