JOHN REDMOND LAKE — Coffey County Sheriff Randy Rogers said he has temporarily suspended the search for a missing 11-year-old boy on John Redmond Reservoir. Cold and windy weather conditions have frustrated the search and the lake has completely iced over, he said. The search for Jeremy Gene Jenkins has been one of the most frustrating tragedies his department has had to deal with. The boy is believed to have drowned when the boat he was in capsized a week ago. The bodies of his father, 40-year-old Jason Allen Jenkins, and his uncle, 22-year-old Clinton Calvin Dean Yeager, were found on the shoreline shortly after the boat capsized. Members of the Franklin County water rescue team have been helping with the search. The search will resume once the lake has thawed and searchers are able to get back on the water, Rogers said.
