OTTAWA — Ottawa High School’s Family, Career and Community Leaders are raising $1,000 for the Numana food day project. One of their fund raisers is Wednesday night from 6 to 8 at the Ottawa Sirloin Stockade, said OHS teacher Cherry Coen. The group will have a potato bar for Jan. 7 at the first home varsity basketball game after the Christmas break as another fundraiser for Numana. Coen said she’s always emphasized the importance of doing something for the community and world and the students were impressed by the Numana project. In February, volunteers will try to pack 100,000 packets of specially-prepared food and protein in Ottawa for the world’s starving. Coen said the FCCLA will be looking for student volunteers to take part.
