OTTAWA — Every school in Franklin County except Central Heights is closed today because of icy roads. Central Heights and Anderson County schools remain open today. The Kansas Department of Transportation said all highways, bridges and overpasses, are slick this morning because of the freezing drizzle that fell Wednesday night throughout most of northeast Kansas. Law enforcement officers were working at least two accidents involving roll-overs in Franklin County this morning and dealt with several accidents Wednesday evening. Numerous accidents had occurred overnight because of slick roads – including a KDOT truck that rolled over in Miami County and three Highway Patrol cars in the Kansas City area. KDOT said drivers should allow more time to get where they’re going and to be careful and watch for refreezing or icy spots on the roads.
