BALDWIN–Several classrooms in the Baldwin Elementary School Primary Center suffered significant damage when a heating unit malfunctioned. Superintendent Paul Dorathy says sometime last weekend the rooftop heating unit over the first-grade pod malfunctioned and wouldn’t heat. This allowed the pipes above the pod to freeze, which then caused the sprinklers to kick on and flood three rooms. Dorathy says a lot of textbooks and classroom materials were damaged. Dorathy says he doesn’t know the dollar amount of damage but says it’s pretty significant. The district’s insurance complany is expected to cover the losses.
