WICHITA – Gov. Mark Parkinson announced a deal Tuesday with Hawker Beechcraft Corporation that keeps the company in Wichita for the next 10 years. The state will provide a $40 million incentive package, he said. That includes $10 million over three years for tuition reimbursement and training. Hawker Beechcraft will also receive $10 million in the first year, followed by $5 million each year for the next four years as part of what is call the Major Project Investment program, he said. MPI funds may be used for moving or buying equipment, product development, labor recruitment, or building costs. The incentive package comes from special state bonds that will be paid from employer withholding taxes. Wichita and Sedgwick County will also each provide $2.5 million over the course of five years to the company. In return, Hawker Bbeechcraft will maintain its current product lines in Wichita and retain at least 4,000 jobs over the next 10 years.
