OSAWATOMIE — Although Kansas will miss most of the worst of a powerful winter storm system sweeping across the country this week, the Osawatomie Fire Department said you should still have a winter safety kit in your vehicle. Items should include blankets, non-perishable food and water, cell phone charger, booster cables, flares, medication, a bag of sand or cat litter for traction, flashlight, battery-powered radio and extra batteries, first-aid kit and zip-top bags for uh, well, sanitation.
