LOUSIBURG–A Christian music festival may be held in Louisburg at the end of July 2011. Charlie Wyatt, owner of the Christian Internet radio station WUCA Radio, asked the Louisburg City Council if he could host WUCA Fest, a two-day music festival. At first the city council said no at the December 6th meeting stating that there would be too many concerns for having a religious concert on governmental property. Two weeks later, the council changed its mind because the “no” violated Wyatt’s First Amendment right. Wyatt must handle the $2 million he needs for insurance, hiring local law enforcement officers and firefighters as security, and other responsibilities. The council will have its final decision in January. The festival is set for July 22nd and 23rd.
