PRATT — The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks says it has confirmed two mountain lion sightings in the last three months. Wildlife biologists said they have verified photos of a mountain lion taken in Nemaha County in northeaster Kansas earlier this month. They also said they have verified a photo taken in October of a mountain lion taken in Republican County, north-central Kansas. In the last three years, state wildlife officials have confirmed five mountain lion sightings. The closest confirmed case is near Lawrence but there was a probably but unconfirmed report of a mountain lion in southern Ottawa three years ago. Until recent years, it had been more than 100 years before the big cats were confirmed in Kansas.
