LAWRENCE — A Lawrence man has pleaded guilty to robbing the KU Credit Union. Timothy Hays, 21, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Kansas City to one count of bank robbery and one count of brandishing a firearm during a robbery, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said. Hays admitted that on July 12, he robbed the KU Credit Union in western Lawrence. He carried a 38-caliber pistol into the credit union and pointed it at a clerk and demanded money. A Lawrence police officer arrested Hays later that day after recognizing him from bank surveillance photos, Grissom said. Sentencing is April 4.
