HILLSDALE LAKE — Jerry Bennett is the first rural water district manager in Kansas to receive a national utility management certification. Bennett received the certification from Water University which is offered through the National Rural Water Association. The national group said those who are certified must learn and demonstrate a good knowledge of management, financial and technical matters. Bennett has been the general manager for Miami County Rural Water District No. 2 for nearly 20 years. The water district serves nearly 3,600 rural customers in Miami, Johnson and Franklin counties, and sells water to six municipal and rural water district customers. The district operates a treatment plant at Hillsdale Lake that can process 6.6 million gallons of water per day.
