OTTAWA– The city of Ottawa has lost one of its own. Don Woodward, who was instrumental in the development and operation of the Ottawa Boys Club, has died Tuesday. After serving his country, Woodward returned to ottawa and worked for the city until 1989. For 38 years, Woodward served as the Ottawa Boys Club’s Director, often donating his own money for the program. He and his wife, Aileen, ran the Ottawa Recreation Center from 1965-1975. In 1994, the Boys Club was renamed the Don Woodward Community Center for honor his service and commitment. Woodward was also awarded the Service Above Self Award from the Ottawa Rotary Club for his dedication of the Boys Club. Services will be held 2 o’clock tomorrow at the Dengel and Son Mortuary in Ottawa.
