PAOLA — The new year is a great time for families to review their plans for their finances. Miami County Extension family and consumer services agent Diane Burnett you should make a list of your financial goals for the year. That includes a personal financial review, she said. Any review should include an estimate of your income as well as your expenses. That review should include tracking expenses over a 30-day period, she said. After your review, can you draw up a list of long-term financial goals, she said. Setting goals makes your chance of success all that much better, Burnett said. Establishing a budget should include paying fixed expenses such as mortgage and rent, and utility bills first, she said.
