OTTAWA — An engineering consultant says the city should replace a major sewer line on the east side of Ottawa for about $4 million. City commissioners reviewed the study by PEC Monday. The study said that the line that runs from 15th and Cedar around the eastern edge of the city to the wastewater plant includes sections that are 100 years old and are different sizes. The study came out of the city’s project to provide sewer service to the area south of I-35 that will the Love’s Travel Center, city manager Richard Nienstedt said. State and federal regulators expressed concerns about the city’s existing sewer network to handle more growth in the system, he said. Commissioners had little reaction to the study results. PEC said any replacement project would be stretched over two years.
