LAWRENCE — The Lied Center of Kansas will present “Carnival of the Animals” and “Peter and the Wolf,” featuring Frederic Chiu and David Gonzalez, at 2:30 p.m. March 13. “There’s nothing like having a narrative, a story, connected to music,” said Gonzalez. “Carnival of the Animals,” written by French Romantic composer Camille Saint-Saëns in 1886, presents residents of the animal kingdom through classical music. “Peter and the Wolf,” written by Russian composer and pianist Sergei Prokofiev in 1936, uses the construction of a symphony fairy tale to help cultivate the musical tastes of children. Tickets are $24 for the public and $10 for students and youth. Tickets are on sale at the Lied Center ticket office, (785) 864-2787 or (785) 864-2777 TDD; Murphy Hall box office, (785) 864-3982; and on-line at lied.ku.edu.
