TOPEKA–The U.S. Department of Agriculture has named four counties in Kansas as natural disaster areas. The counties of Coffey, Osage, Shawnee, and Wabaunsee are natural disaster areas because of losses caused by excessive rain, heat, and drought. The counties of Franklin, Anderson, and Douglas also qualify as natural disaster areas. Farmers in these counties can qualify forĀ USDA’s Farm Service Agency loans. These loans can help cover part of their losses due to the disasters.
