GARNETT — A woman convicted of burning down her house two years ago in a try to collect $177,000 in insurance money has received two years on probation. The Anderson County Review reported that Debbie Womelsdorf was ordered to pay the insurance company more than $73,000. She was convicted of arson and insurance fraud in a jury trial last month. Womelsdorf set fire to her truck and house near Lone Elm but later claimed two men held her hostage and set the fire. Investigators found several inconsistencies in her story. Because she had no criminal history, state sentencing guidelines for both crimes called for probation.
