OTTAWA – Ottawa city and Franklin County roads crews continue to remove tons of snow from streets and roads. The city has expanded its efforts from major streets to other streets, said city manager Richard Nienstedt. “There’s a lot of snow to moved and we know that frustrates a lot people,” Nienstedt said. “But if you don’t have to get out, don’t get out.” It could take a couple of days to completely clear streets, he said. County crews are now working their way down drifted county roads. Emergency management director Alan Radcliffe says despite the large amounts of snow, they’re making progress. The county’s snow-plow trucks have been working on drifting snow on paved county roads and road graders have started plowing rural gravel roads, he said. The graders go until sundown for safety reasons, he said.
