RANTOUL — A home in the 3300 block of Utah Road north of Rantoul received severe damage as a result of a fire Wednesday evening. Four different rural fire departments were called to fight the blaze in subfreezing temperatures. The Franklin County Sheriff’s offices said it appears the fire was caused by an electrical short in a breaker box in the garage in the house owned by James Hughes. The sheriff’s department estimated the loss at $180,000.
