OTTAWA — Two men are in the Franklin County jail this morning after a wild chase through the streets of Ottawa early Sunday morning. Ottawa Police Lt. Adam Weingartner said police received a report of several gunshots in the area of East Seventh and South Oak streets. When an officer tried to pull over a vehicle in the area, the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped near the 1300 block of South Cedar. When police searched the vehicle, they found two firearms, several thousand dollars in cash, about 10 grams of marijuana, about 50 grams of methamphetamine, multiple prescription medications and drug paraphernalia, Weingartner said. Dale Howard, 30, Ottawa; is being held in jail on driving under the influence of alcohol. Kevin Delap, 24, Clear View; is being held for a Johnson County warrant and obstructing legal process for providing false information. Weingartner said there is no report of injuries or damage from the gunshots. He asks residents to contact police department if they have any information about the incident.
