BALDWIN CITY–Speed limits and stop signs will be changing in several locations in Baldwin City. On Monday, the Baldwin City Council approved stop sign changes around the old Baldwin Elementary School Primary Center building. Since the old building is vacant, the first change will be that Chapel Street between Sixth and Eighth Streets will be marked and accommodate to  two-way traffic. Stop signs will be removed on Eighth Street at the corner of Chapel Street. The intersection will now be a two-way stop for the eastbound and westbound traffic.  The same will be done at the intersection of Sixth and Chapel Streets. Since the stop signs on Sixth Street will be removed, the city will be putting stop signs at Sixth and Dearborn Streets, creating a four-way stop. For speed limits, Chapel and Sixth Streets will be 30 mph. The city council will vote on the speed limit changes at the February 21st meeting.
