OTTAWA — New U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran came to Ottawa to meet his new constituents recently and to hear what Ottawans thought of national issues . Moran did listening tours as U.S. Congressman for the 1st District in which he visited every county in the district and he said he was continuing that as U.S. senator. It’s a useful tool to know what Kansans are thinking. He told the packed room that he wants to get control of the federal deficit and cut back the number of federal regulations ranging from medicine to education. But Moran got an earful from Dennis Cahill of Ottawa, who expressed skepticism about Moran’s intention to vote to repeal the controversial health care reform.
