OTTAWA — Besides closing Eisenhower Elementary School, the Ottawa school board is considering several other cuts on what is called the “Alpha List.” Ottawa Supt. Dean Katt said that may include cutting academic coaches, eliminating two permanent substitute teachers, limiting playground and extra duty, encouraging older teachers to retired, rearranging special tax levies and other measures. Some of the cuts could include people and programs designed to help Ottawa students meet and federal achievement guidelines. Such cuts will make it increasingly hard for students to meet those guidelines, Katt said.
