OTTAWA — Jim Cosgrove will sing songs and the Kansas Search and Rescue dogs will put on a demonstration for this Saturday’s McGruff Club, the first of the year. This year, the 25th annual edition of the McGruff Club is 9 to noon at Ottawa Municipal Auditorium. The shows provide entertainment, snacks, prizes and illustrate that police would much rather help people than threaten them with jail, said Ottawa Police Department’s Rick Geist, a long-time organizer of the show. Geist said he‘s helped put on the shows for so long that now he recognizes many parents who bring children who themselves were children attending the shows. As always, the McGruff Club is free.
