OSAWATOMIE — Property owners and the city of Osawatomie have reached a settlement over disputed construction. The Osawatomie Journal reported Donald and Patricia Krueger filed a suit against the city in 2009 over construction of a residential garage at the corner of 16th Street and Brown Svenue. The city issued a stop-work order to halt construction of a residential garage because it did not meet city building codes, which required the garage to be no more than 15 feet tall. Both sides reached a settlement Feb. 3rd in which the city agreed to pay the Kruegers $30,000, withdraw the stop-work order, and issue a building permit with no additional fee. The Kruegers agreed to comply with the city codes and ordinances associated with building a garage, and comply with all inspection requirements.
