KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Mo., voters have turned out their controversial mayor, Mark Funkhouser. Funkhouser didn’t get enough votes in Tuesday’s primary and won’t get a chance for a second term. The Kansas City Star reported that Funkhouser, who was the former city auditor, pushed through several beneficial changes that got more people involved in city government and improved the city’s financial strength in the future. However, Funkhouser annoyed many voters because of his wife’s role in his administration, feuds with the city council and business leaders, and controversial appointments to city boards.
