OTTAWA — The city of Ottawa saw the biggest increase in its fuel prices in any January in history, said Ottawa city finance director Scott Bird. Bird said city employees have been cutting back on energy and fuel use but the hike in fuel prices does affect city operations. However, Bird said he doesn’t expect fuel prices to climb as high as they did in 2008, when gasoline prices skyrocketed to $4 per gallon.
