LAWRENCE — Playwrite Robert Skloot will visit Kansas University Thursday afternoon for a stage reading of his one-act play “If the Whole Body Dies: Raphael Lemkin and the Treaty Against Genocide.” The one-hour stage reading is at 5:30 at the William Inge Theatre in Murphy Hall. Following the performance, a discussion will be held with the playwright to talk about the play and the prevention of genocide. The play is based on the Polish-born Jew who fled the Nazis and created the legal definition of genocide and took part in the Nuremberg trials after World War II. Skloot is professor emeritus of theater at the University of Wisconsin and has written extensively about and written plays about the Holocaust and genocide in Rwanda, Bosnia, Cambodia and Armenia.
