OTTAWA — Ottawa-Franklin County Economic Development will soon start work on its new strategic plan. County commissioners are expected to give the OK to work on the new plan at this morning’s meeting. The strategic plan is required if the county is to keep state economic designations that make Franklin County eligible for special economic and business incentives and grant. Among the efforts to update the strategic plan, O/FCED chairman Blaine Finch said the group will soon send a survey to people in Franklin County about their thoughts on the county’s future. The survey will likely ask about specific issues including roads and historic preservation, he said. Past surveys have proved useful in pointing out concerns from the public and government officials have had success in dealing with those concerns, Tom Weigand, O/FCED and Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce president, said.
