OTTAWA — After a charge by Ottawans, the city has taken the lead of the Take Charge Challenge this week. City administrative assistant Leslie Quillen reports that enough Ottawans changed older light bulbs to switch the top spot with Baldwin City. In the Take Charge Challenge, Ottawa, Baldwin City, Paola and Gardner are competing to see how much energy they can save this year. The winning city will receive a $100,000 grant.
City manager Richard Nienstedt said you can help win that money and save energy, too. The city will have a booth at KOFO‘s Home and Garden Expo at Municipal Auditorium and energy-efficient CFL bulbs and literature will be handed out to visitors.
