OTTAWA — Franklin County Sheriff Jeff Curry said that he will testify Tuesday on behalf of the Kansas Sheriffs Association in legislative hearings against a bill pushed by an activist group that would require crime-scene investigators to look for pornography at or near the scene of violent sexual crimes. He said most of the state’s law enforcement officers and groups are against the bill. He says investigators would be forced to look for materials that can’t be used for prosecutions and just used for the group’s research purposes. Because most law agencies now computerize their records, it would cost them thousands of dollars to change their systems to collect and keep the information, he said.
