TOPEKA — Irish poet Desmond Egan will offer his support of the arts in Kansas when he takes part in a poetry reading and discussion Thursday evening at 7 at the First Congregational Church, Topeka. The Topeka Capital-Journal reported he will join a panel discussion on the values of art for the society and cutbacks proposed by Gov. Sam Brownback for the arts. Egan also will mix poetry with music Friday night at the jazz club London’s in downtown Topeka. Egan has visited Topeka and Washburn University every year for about 25 years.
