COLONY — An Erie woman was killed in a head-on crash near Colony early Saturday morning. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Jesse Cooper, 24, Overland Park; was driving south on U.S. 169 near Colony when his car crossed the center line and hit a car driven by Trina Demeritt, 35, Erie; head-on. Troopers said Demeritt was taken by helicopter to Miami County Medical Center in Paola where she died. Her body will be sent to Topeka for an autopsy. Cooper was flown by helicopter to the Kansas University Medical Center.
