OTTAWA — Funeral services have been set for the 4-year-old Ottawa boy who died Saturday after he was hit by a vehicle at his home. The funeral for Alex Russle Bowles-Gregg will be Thursday morning at the First Baptist Church, with burial at Highland Cemetery. His family will meet with friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Police said the investigation continues into the accident at 1040 S. Cottonwood Saturday afternoon, in which the boy was hit by a driverless vehicle that rolled down the driveway moments after it had been parked. His 41-year-old mother and the woman’s 41-year-old boyfriend were present when the incident occurred and have been interviewed by police, Lt. Adam Weingartner said. Because alcohol may involved in the incident, evidence has been sent to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation laboratory and could be referred to the county attorney’s office, Weingartner said.
