LAWRENCE — The retired Kansas University professor who was the host of the longest-running radio show in history died Monday at the age of 92. Jim Seaver started his public radio program “Opera is My Hobby” on Sept. 19, 1952, four days after KU’s public radio station KANU went on the air. Seaver retired as an ancient history professor at KU 30 years ago but continued to produce “Opera is My Hobby” until his death.
