CARBONDALE — A Vassar man and Osage City woman were taken to the hospital as a result of a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 75 just south of Carbondale Wednesday morning. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Thomas Quaney, 75, Burlingame; was driving at a slow speed in the right-hand lane. Nelden Cain, 52, Vassar, was also in the right-hand lane and was briefly distracted, troopers said. Cain looked up and tried to evade Quaney’s pickup but rear-ended it. Cain and a passenger, Rita Cain, 60, Osage City; were taken to Stormont-Vail Medical Center in Topeka. Quaney wasn’t injured.
