TOPEKA–Four abortion bills were considered at the Kansas Senate’s Judiciary Committee yesterday. One of them was making it illegal to have abortions after 22 weeks of gestation, the age when the fetus could survive outside of the womb. Another would be restricting late term abortions after 22 weeks of pregnancy because of the risk of fetal pain. That was passed in the House 91-30 vote. Exceptions would be the physical health of the woman was at serious risk. The third bill would require minors to obtain parental consent before an abortion. That passed in a 95-26 vote. The fourth bill deals with licenses for abortion clinics. The clinics would require to renew their licenses every year and undergo inspections twice a year.
