OTTAWA — The Marais des Cygnes Watershed District recently completed a study of what would happen if the dams of five ponds and lakes in the district would collapse.
The district’s Diane Mailen presented some of the highlights of the report to Franklin County commissioners Wednesday. The district board has scheduled an April 4 meeting with Hugh Bogle, Kansas Department of Transportation area engineer, to discuss the report as well as other drainage matters, she said. Many built-up parts of K-68 west of Ottawa have an affect on stream flows and could serve as temporary dams, she said.
