TOPEKA– According to the February 2011 Labor Report, the state of Kansas has decreased its unemployment rate from last year. The report says that the unemployment rate in Kansas is 7.2 percent, down from 7.5 percent last year. Despite the decrease it looks like Franklin and its surrounding counties have increased their unemployment rate. Franklin County increased its rate from 9.5 last year to 10.4. Anderson County went from 8.6 to 9.6. Miami increased its unemployment from 8.5 to 9.9 percent. Douglas County increased from 5.6 to 6.5. Osage County went from 9.1 to 10.4 percent. Linn County saw the biggest increase, it went from 12.6 percent unemployment to 14.3 percent.
