WELLSVILLE — A 55-year-old woman who was hit by a train Sunday afternoon at Wellsville has been identified as of wellsville.
Kansas Highway Patrol master trooper Josh Kellerman said the eastbound train’s engineer and conductor reported she was walking along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks under the K-33 overpass and stepped in front of the train. The engineer applied the emergency brakes but Kellerman said it took the train about a half-mile to get stopped. K-33 was closed at the overpass for two hours while officers investigated.
